Internship Program

The Mid-America Transportation Center's Summer Internship Program for Undergraduates, initially started in 1995, has a rich history of providing critical exposure to the transportation profession and attracting students toward graduate academic programs. Comprising of well over 150+ undergraduates, and adding even more every year, the program gives individual participants the chance to experience hands-on, practical operations that transportation professionals perform on a daily basis.

Karen Schurr
Ms. Karen Schurr, a Civil Engineering Lecturer at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, maintains and oversees the program. She has worked hard over the years to recruit the best students available, and also has developed an excellent program for the interns to give them a distinct advantage after graduation as they begin careers in transportation engineering. Shown right are some statistics reflecting the success of this intern program over the past thirteen years.
